FAQ: KM2 Gatherings

Why not younger kids first?

Great question. Having safety as our foremost goal, we feel that our elementary students have the maturity to handle mask-wearing, social distancing, and separatation from parents. Also, the DOH suggestions are more easily doable with this age group.

Additionally, in order to bring kids back, we need volunteers who are ready and willing to gather with children. Why not older students first?

We find that families are not generally concerned about their 5th-6th grade students being disruptive in a family style service setting. Attending our multigenerational gatherings with their parents is a great way for our older students to deepen their faith and relationship with God.

Why not Saturday Night?

Currently, we do not have the needed support to host a kids' gathering on Saturday night. When will preschool open?

We have a layered approach to opening classrooms for the younger ages. Our goal is to evaluate after the first couple weeks. As we gather the necessary volunteer support, we will open classes for Chipmunks, Racoons, and Bears.

What if I am not ready to come back to in-person gatherings?

We are offering some great weekly resources for our at-home kids. Included are some worksheets, activity ideas, and a fun video. You can find new content posted on Fridays at www.lighthousehome.org/km2-at-home.

We are part of one large Lighthouse family. We all have different needs, desires, and opinions...and that's OK! While in-person gatherings are happening at LCC, our online/at-home branch of the family is as important to us as ever.

• Keep joining us for our weekend gatherings starting at 6:00pm on Saturday evenings on our YouTube channel. ASL interpreted services will stream at 9:00am on Sundays.
