Welcome to weekend worship with the Lighthouse Family!

Pastor Paul Dawson
A Healing Community
John 11:1-2, 5, 14, 17-18, 38-44
September 23-24, 2023
Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill…5Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 14Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died...17Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. 18Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off 19and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. 38Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” 40Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” 41So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.” (John 11:1-2,5,14,17-18, 38-44)

We are a Christ-centered community, reaching out every day to make more and better disciples.

• Church
• Bible study
• Home group
• Coffee shop
• Hospital waiting room
• Living room prayers
• Sports team
• A few others at work
• One-on-one with a good friend
• A support group

 - We don’t always understand what God is doing in our lives. Why this? Why now? Why me/them/us?
 - Jesus meets us in community so we might experience healing, our own and that of others.

- Community. Connection. Fellowship. Wherever we find healing we find these, and wherever we find these we find healing. – Doug Bloch
- I am not aware of any other factor in medicine — not diet, not smoking, not exercise, not stress, not genetics, not drugs, not surgery — that has a greater impact on our quality of life or incidence of illness. – Dean Ornish, Love and Survival: The Scientific Basis for the Healing Power of Intimacy
- I have been captured by the idea that God has placed extraordinary resources within us that have the power to heal us and our relationships. If released, they could do a lot of good that we now think only trained specialists can accomplish. I believe that, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, these resources can do whatever needs to be done to move people toward maturity… I envision the church as people who are connected in small healing communities, connected by what they give to each other… and invite others to enjoy that same intimacy. – Larry Crabb, Connecting

The healing that we experience in Christ-centered community – when we share it – will draw others to Him.

Because relationship with one another is at the core of being a disciple of Christ, we invite you to find community and experience spiritual transformation through LCC’s groups, classes, events, and service opportunities.
